The town of Concord was originally called Musketaquid meaning “grassy plain,” but is now well known from the “Concord Grape.” It is of historical significance beginning with the Battle of Lexington and Concord and then later turning into a literary center with writers Henry David Thoreau and Louisa May Alcott having lived there.
Today, the town center is still a destination for its residents being full of services, restaurants, shopping and the famous Colonial Inn which is rumored to be haunted. Much like some neighboring towns in the area, Concord has done an excellent job in preserving its environment from the development of homes to its commercial retailers.
